I would bet that there isn’t a person in this world who hasn’t made mistakes in their life.
There isn’t a human being alive who hasn’t made some wrong choices they regret now.
It doesn’t matter if you let some wrong people in, if you made a lousy judgment regarding your career, or if you would now change some decisions you made in the past.
The bottom line is that somehow, you ended up heartbroken.
Maybe you were played with.
Maybe someone you completely trusted stabbed you in the back or abandoned you when you needed them the most.
Maybe you feel like you’ve wasted your entire life until now. Maybe you ended up with your heart broken and shattered into pieces.
Whatever it may be, there is one simple truth: all of that is a part of life.
Whether you like it or not, pain, resentment, and regret are all things you’ll experience on your journey.
I hate to break it to you but there is nothing you can do to prevent life happening.
People will keep on disappointing and hurting you and your heart will continue getting broken, as much as you try to prevent it.
Nevertheless, there is also some good news. You’re the only one who can control how you react to the things going on around you.
You don’t have any control whatsoever over other people’s actions. However, you do have full control over your thoughts and feelings.
Basically, what I’m trying to say is that it’s up to you to decide what to focus on: the disappointment or the lesson your heartbreak taught you.
If you keep on focusing on the pain, you’ll just produce more pain.
You’ll produce more anger, resentment, grudges, and the desire for revenge.
None of these negative emotions will do harm to the ones who have hurt you. They will neither affect them nor make them repent.
So, at the end of the day, when you focus on the bad things, you only do bad to yourself. It’s as simple as that.
On the other hand, if you choose to focus on the lessons you’ve learned thanks to all of these negative experiences, you’ll do yourself a favor.
You’ll continue to grow until you finally become the person you were meant to be.
You’ll always find obstacles along your path. There will always be unexpected challenges and hardships.
However, the way you react to all of them is what determines the course of your life.
It is what determines your mental and emotional health.
Let’s try a little experiment.
If someone appears with a magic stick and gives you an opportunity to erase all of your mistakes and wrong choices, what would you do?
What would you do if you had the chance to erase each one of the tears you’ve cried, all of your heartaches, and all the traumas you’ve had to endure?
I bet you would immediately take the offer, without giving it much thought.
After all, who would miss the opportunity to annul everything bad that has ever happened to them in life?
However, I’m asking you to stop right there and consider this: what kind of person would you be today if it weren’t for this heartbreak?
What would happen to all the difficult but extremely valuable lessons you’ve learned? They would also be erased, wouldn’t they?
Therefore, you would remain completely clueless about life.
You wouldn’t have the wisdom, discernment, perspicacity, and clairvoyance that you have today.
You wouldn’t know half the things you know now.
You wouldn’t be able to determine what’s good for you or to read people, and your intuition wouldn’t be as developed.
Most importantly: if it weren’t for this heartbreak, you wouldn’t have the strength you possess today.
You wouldn’t know how to appreciate all the good things happening to you.
All the smiles you experience now would be worthless if you couldn’t compare them with tears.
All the happiness wouldn’t have the same meaning if you couldn’t compare it to the sadness you went through.
You wouldn’t see the value of the love in your life if it weren’t for all the hatred you previously experienced.
